ViewSonic Launches 7 and 8 Series Projectors

ViewSonic 8 SeriesViewSonic just recently launched two new series of projectors that are focused on the educational and professional markets. Projectors specifically designed with the classroom or meeting room (or both) in mind have become an increasingly persistent market. Many people are now trying to find affordable and high-quality projectors that are tailored specifically for these types of small encounters.

ViewSonic is launching the ViewSonic 7 Series projectors, a range of projectors that feature a whole host of teacher-friendly features. The ViewSonic 7 Series has five projectors total, all of which are 3D ready. Incorporating 3D into the classroom setting is becoming increasingly popular as many teachers find that it increases interaction in a learning environment.

However, the interactive aspect of these devices can also save you money as well by avoiding the need to purchase an interactive white board. Students, as well as teachers, can write directly onto the projected image using a PointBlank pen, included with the purchase, in order to make learning that much more interactive.

The other new series from ViewSonic is the ViewSonic 8 Series. These devices allow for the projection of images in large rooms while at the same time maintaining a high picture quality. This makes the projectors extremely useful in meetings or presentations where the ability of the projectors to present Blu-ray content, HD videos and images in their true form can be useful.

Even though the ViewSonic 7 Series is more geared towards classrooms and the ViewSonic 8 Series more toward business meetings and presentations does not mean that the two are not interchangeable. Both can be used in the classroom or business meeting setting depending on which one meets your needs the best.

Short-Throw Projector Rentals

Why Rent a Short-Throw Projector & Rear Screen Combo?

Short-Throw projectors are machines that can project large and bright images at a very short distance from a projection surface. Rear projection screens are exactly what the name implies, screens that can be projected onto from the backside, allowing the projector to be hidden. Our Tech Travel Agents are capable of bundling these into a single rental solution, which are ideal for spatially limited situations, since a lot of space can be saved by having a short-throw projector just a foot or two behind a rear projection screen.

Mitsubishi Launches New Business Meeting Projectors

Mitsubishi has just launched two brand new projectors that seem to be perfect for your company’s small meeting or conference room. The devices come to you as the XD36OU-EST and WD38OU-EST projectors, which are the latest installments in Mitsubishi’s EST Series.

Both the XD36OU-EST and WD38OU-EST feature lenses with large diameters as well as unique optical design results in order to deliver very clear, large images from short distances. The WD38OU-EST is the more powerful with a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and 2,800 lumen output. The XD36OU-EST has the same 3,000:1 contrast ratio with a slightly less 2,500 lumen output.

The high lumen output allows both devices to put out bright images in normally lit rooms, making them perfect for business meetings. In addition to that, the 28db fan ensures that your audience is not interrupted by loud noises coming from the device during your presentation.

The EST Series features a range of connectivity options, and these two new devices are no different. Both feature VGA, USB, LAN and wireless LAN connections for inputs and each projector can also show up to four PC inputs simultaneously if used on a network. In addition to that, you can also use a wireless mouse or keyboard for remote operation.

If that wasn’t enough for you, the EST series also comes with the option of Visual PA functionality. This permits network administrators to broadcast short messages simultaneously via all the projectors on the network. A feature like this could be very useful in a meeting setting where it is necessary for every attendee to be well-informed.

NEC’s Affordable V300W Projector

NEC V300WNEC has a new affordable projector that is specifically designed for use in classrooms and small business meetings. The device itself is small and compact and it is also lightweight allowing it to be easily placed in a small meeting room or classroom.

The V300W, as it is named, is the latest addition to NEC’s V Series of multimedia projectors. The V300W has a brightness output of 3,000 lumens, which allows the projector to function extremely well in brightly lit rooms or rooms with screens that are slightly larger than normal.

The V300W also comes with an Eco Mode setting which allows you to have a 5,000-hour lamp life. This is good because high lumen outputs, like 3,000, often cause projector lamps to burn out more quickly. However, with Eco Mode enabled, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of your V300W longer keeping long-term costs to a minimum.

According to Rich McPherson, Senior Product Manager for Projectors at NEC, “The V300W is the ideal solution for small-to-medium meeting rooms and classrooms that require high brightness at an affordable price.”

Users of the V300W will be able to benefit from a wide range of connection options including HDMI, monitor out and dual analog RGB inputs. In addition to that, an optional variable audio out port is also available for use with an external speaker system.

If that wasn’t enough for you, this projector also comes with 3D capabilities, enabled by the latest DPL Link technology from Texas Instruments. According to NEC, this will increase interactivity between students and teachers in education settings.

So, if you are in need for a standard, compact projector with a high lumen output and 3D capabilities and you don’t have a lot of money to blow on one, you should definitely check out the V300W from NEC.

Power Point Projectors
Most business class projectors will do a good job displaying your PowerPoint presentation. If you have a small presentation group, a 2000 lumen LCD projector will be able to produce a nice and clear picture. For larger audiences you should consider a 5000 lumen LCD projector.

New Glass Lenses Could Mean Projectors in Smartphones

Alps FLGS3 lensWouldn’t it be convenient if you could walk into your business meeting or conference room with a full presentation ready to project for your colleagues or audience without ever having to lug around a projector? Well, that fantasy may become a reality, and soon, thanks to new lenses that are being designed for smartphones.

Smartphones can do just about anything these days, including surf the internet, record HD movies, play games and even hold gigabytes of data. More and more functionality is being added to our smartphones every day. One potential future addition is the inclusion of a projector module right in your smartphone.

This module would allow you to project video or images on a wall as a 60-inch HD output or larger. However, the main problem with adding functionality like this is size, power and heat. Nobody wants a bigger smartphone, at least not one that is uncomfortably large, or one that consumes too much power or becomes too hot to hold.

Currently, the projector components are too big to be added to a smartphone. In addition to their size, they also require a lot of power and generate a lot of heat. That makes them unsuitable to be included in your next generation iPhone or Droid.

However, Alps Electric is trying to solve these problems and has just announced the world’s smallest aspherical glass lens which measures only 1mm x 1mm. Lenses like these are mostly used in high-capacity communication networks. The glass lens is used in optical communications for transmitting light signals to optical fibers and are also perfect for use in a projector.

The latest aspherical lens from Alps technology is known as the FLGS3. Not only is it remarkably small, but it also has a high coupling efficiency of 73% as opposed to the previous 68%. To put it simply, this just means that you need less light to gain the same level of brightness. Less light equals less power and less heat which means better things for you and your smartphone.

These new lenses and their gains could mean that palm-sized projectors may no longer require the Peltier device-metal component used to help dissipate heat. This also helps make them smaller and cheaper. The savings you receive in power consumption will also mean that you can use the projector for longer periods of time on a single charge.

Even if these new advancements do not turn out to be enough for use in a smartphone (yet), they should reduce the size of new, dedicated palm-sized projectors in the future. Alps has already begun production on the new glass lens and definitely sees these being used in consumer devices in the near future as the company increases production to 100,000 per month by the end of 2011.
